Track Facts: 1/3 mile high banked (18°) red clay oval with 400 ft. straightaways. The track has won National and Regional awards, including the North American Racing Insurance National Excellence in Safety Award.

Promoters Lynn Phillips and Alfred Gurley were named Racing Promoters Monthly Southeastern Region Promoters of the Year numerous times, including 2006.

In 1989 National newspaper "USA Today" named Talladega Short Track among the best dirt tracks in the United States. TST has a national reputation for intense, heart pounding, three wide racing.


 

 

Official Track Record: 13.460 set on March 19th, 2005 by "The Ragin' Redneck" Ross Martin for Super Late Models And California’s Randy Hanagan set the single lap all time record with the WoO Sprint Cars with a 10.998- second lap on April 20th, 2001.

Interesting Stats: Averaged 147 cars during 2007 regular racing season.  Ice Bowl event draws near 400 cars every January.

Racing divisions: Kilpatrick Chevrolet Super Late Models, Race City Diner Sportsman, Ron Newton Cadillac/Pontiac/GMC Crates, Boulevard Suzuki IMCA Modifieds, Thunder 92.7 FM Thundercars, Dorseys Supermarket Hot Shots, and Race City Travel Center Street Stocks.

Season: Saturday nights, March thru October. Gates open at 4:00 p.m.; racing starts at 7:00 pm..
